StatementLeading the pack in Denver's thriving independent music community is 26 year old Laura Goldhamer, a folk songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and animator who has won not only the praise, but deep respect of artists and fans across the country. An old-time banjo player above all, Laura actively has her hands deep to the elbows in a number of musical and artistic projects in Denver. Among them is her band Dovekins, which has been chosen to headline New Belgium Brewing Co.'s folksy Tour de Fat this summer.

Laura Goldhamer and the Silvernail, like Dovekins, draws from a variety of purely American traditions; however, Laura's ability to merge traditional Americana with the avant garde is what has earned her numerous accolades, including Westword magazine's 2010 Mastermind Award, given to her for being a "cultural visionary" in the Denver arts community. But, it isn't music alone that has earned Laura the distinction of being a "mastermind." During Silvernail performances, she projects her intricately composed stop-animation films (which she has made to illustrate her song lyrics) behind the band to synch with the music.

It is Laura Goldhamer's ability to connect people, organize, and work creatively and tirelessly that has made her a vibrant fixture in the arts of the Mile High City, and beyond.
