| Biography | Dr. Fajardo has long been an advocate of children's and family rights. Her work with art education, literacy, and community programming have crossed all borders and boundaries. She has organized summer camps for impoverished children in the South West for over a decade. She has published articles dealing with subjects ranging from the farm worker crisis in America to the importance of cultural art in impoverished neighborhoods to the success stories of immigrant families in owning their own businesses. She strongly believes that community is family; that through our connection to our past and ancestral ways we can empathize with others in a compassionate way. Currently she is the co-ordinator at Metropolitan State College of Denver with the Journey Through Our Heritage program, a project under the direction of the Department of Chicana/o Studies. |
