The Biennial of the Americas has partnered with Denver Startup Week to launch the Innovative Americas Pitch Competition, specifically to showcase the innovative ideas and the startup ecosystem of the Americas, as well as connect international idea-makers and entrepreneurs to a broader network of potential investors and collaborators in Denver. This pilot edition of the pitch competition will be a soft launch, allowing a small cohort of entrepreneurs to showcase their ideas on the Denver stage and build the framework for a larger-scale open-call for ideas in 2019.
The event will feature entrepreneurs from Latin America who exemplify the potential of the region as a start-up market and source for innovative solutions to disaster preparedness and response. The aim is to highlight the global nature of innovation and investing, demonstrate the value of this network to power solutions to social and civic issues across national borders and to showcase the innovative and entrepreneurial strength of Latin American leaders to the Denver Startup audience of over 20,000 investors and entrepreneurs.
Entrepreneurs will be asked to pitch ideas that increase community preparedness and resilience in anticipation of increasingly prevalent natural disasters in the Americas (e.g., catastrophic hurricanes, flooding, wildfires, earthquakes, drought, etc.). Pitch ideas will be presented during Denver Startup week to an audience of local Denver entrepreneurs, business professionals, and potential investors. Each pitch presentation will be reviewed by a panel of distinguished judges, including members of the Liberty Latin America team.
