Maria Victoria Hernandez
Maria Victoria Hernandez, Dominican filmmaker, is the founder of 2SOMOS1 a project that seeks to bring environmental education through outdoor cinema screenings in both Dominican Republic and Haiti. Maria had the opportunity to study different film programs in Madrid, NYU and EICTV film school in Cuba.
As an Assistant Director she has worked with local and international filmmakers such as Francisco Valdez, Matias Bize, Kryzz Gautier, Ana Rodriguez Rosell, Vin Diesel and DJ Caruso.
Her short film Sanitation, about poor access to water in Dominican Republic slums, and shot on an iphone, was selected in over 20 film festivals around the world, winning two awards in Spain and South Korea.
In December 2017 2SOMOS1 was selected as one of the 20 projects present at the United Nations Sustainable Innovation Expo during the UN Environmental Assembly in Nairobi, Kenya.
